Diabetes is a disease which can be developed by anyone whose pancreas start functioning improperly & stops secreting hormones that generates Insulin. So, the diabetes is caused when either the insulin is not produced or its not properly utilized by the cells leading in higher glucose level which is termed as Diabetes. The three different forms of diabetes are: Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when insulin producing cells in the pancreas are damaged. Pancreatic cells are both protected and destroyed by the body's hormones.
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body fails to produce enough insulin, or fails to utilize it properly. Being overweight is a major contributor to this form of diabetes. Lastly, Gestational diabetes develops in some women during pregnancy. Excessive urination, excessive thirst and increased fluid intake and blurred vision, these are some of the symptoms of diabetes.
While other symptoms may be increased hunger, that is getting hungry often, vomiting, nausea, tiredness, being quite many often, restless behavior and an apathetic attitude in case of children, inability to focus attention, deep breaths with fruity odor. Diabetes is growing as a major health problem with millions of cases rising in almost every country. This number continues to rise further. Millions of cases still continue to increase everyday. Many of the cases worldwide remain undiagnosed and hence, unreported.
Many of these cases are found in urban areas. Only 1 out of 10 is found in rural areas while 9 may be the case from urban parts. Excess body weight, a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle are the leading cause of type 2 diabetes which is why it is more prevalent in urban areas. The reason why rural life is different from urban life is the sedentary lifestyle that is eating more and exercising less in urban areas. Heredity is one of the causes of type 1 diabetes. According to a research, at present, 246 million people around the world are affected by diabetes, which is expected to rise by 380 million by 2025.
About 3.8 million people loose their life because of diabetes every year worldwide. Cardiovascular disease is the reason for a greater number of deaths which has been worsened by diabetes-related lipid disorders and hypertension. Some of the chronic diseases are becoming public health challenges like diabetes and hypertension. A lot of methods and measures have evolved to prevent the disease and hence lowering down the number of deaths forced by this deadly disease. Why are you worrying?? To lower the risk of developing diabetes, only thing that you need to do is taking healthy diet and regular physical exercise and this will reduce the risk by 30% or more.
Now what does a healthy diet mean? It means a nutritional diet low in fats and free of processed carbohydrates, high proteins in the breakfast. Try to have 5-7 small meals rather than one hefty meal. Doing exercise is very important as it burns out the fat and reduces the sugar level, so you should strongly consider walking for 1-2 hours everyday to burn those extra calories & fats. These were some of the ways, following which you can greatly reduce the risk of having diabetes. It is suggested that people should get their blood sugar level checked from time to time.
This again helps in gaining a win over diabetes. Since people get their sugar level checked, they can reduce sugar level if it rises. And if diabetes is diagnosed, they have good chances of keeping themselves protected anyway.
